Google plays a big role in whether or not your information is seen by the people you want to get in front of. One of Google’s many tools available for businesses and organizations is Google Business Profile. Your Google Business Profile, formerly known as Google My Business, is free and is tied to your presence on Google Maps, Google Search and other Google products.
Your Google Business Profile is not just another social media platform. Posting to your Profile not only keeps your audience informed, it also helps Google understand your organization better and can therefore share your message with more appropriate audiences. Here are a few best practices for making the best of your Google Business Profile.
How often should you post on your Google Business Profile?
For most organizations, posting to your Google Business Profile once a week is the sweet spot. This frequency allows you to keep your audience up to date but doesn’t diminish engagement opportunities by burying your content with frequent posting.
What should you be posting?
Ask yourself, am I educating or selling with this post? If you’re selling, you should be posting this on your Google for Business page! People that visit your page on Google are considered in a “transactional state of mind” and are ready to buy. Sell to them! Don’t think of Google posts as your standard social media use.
Skip posting these things.
We have seen people have limited to no success from posting the below on their Google profiles. Learn from others’ mistakes and follow suit with skipping these types of posts.

Before you go…
As you proceed to follow these steps for your business’ Profile, remember that the same things you post on other social media platforms may not be applicable or relevant for this audience. Be sure to identify who your target audience is on each platform you’re sharing your message on. Tailor your media to appeal to your audience on that platform to ensure your efforts aren’t wasted.
Be sure your Profile is updated to include the same Name, Address and Phone number (NAP) across all your platforms as well as a relevant products and services list. And don’t forget your reviews! As always, if you need help, reach out!
